Ceramic objects »Silberblitz & Erde«
With her ceramic objects, Sonja Heller tries to capture the inner world of the poet, who is trapped in social constraints.
Annette von Droste-Hülshoff loved nature and was happy to be out and about with the geologist's hammer to look for treasures hidden in the rock of the Münsterland marl pits.
Among other things, Sonja Heller was inspired by the poem »The Marl Pit« the poet and the final sentence from the long poem »Unrest«:
»And the heart, this little lump of earth, has room for all creation.«
Sonja Heller combines clays in white and black with minerals in her ceramics.

Object Scanography »Cocoon«
With the topic »cocoon« the artist also tries to give a picture of the inner world of the poetess.
To do this, she uses one of her focal points, object scanography, which belongs to artistic photography. Here, the two controversial areas of image and object merge completely: three-dimensional objects, which the artist creates from various materials, are transferred into a two-dimensional photo using an old Agfa tube scanner from 1998.

"That's how I liked me quietly and secretly

The big topic in the life of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff: nature.
The portrait drawings of the poet are implemented as mixed media, with digital illustration and drawing, combined with manual letterpress.
The face of the poet merges with the great theme of her life. But Sonja Heller tells her own story of an artist from the Biedermeier period, shows her own snapshots of the poet without a poet's life, the woman without a married life, the temporary muse, the seeker and the eternal daughter.

Fabric objects »Daseyn«
»Daseyn«: Here, too, Sonja Heller dealt with the topic of »nature«.
In the series of embroidery frames, she hides entire Droste poems in plant and animal motifs: these pigment prints on fabric are relentlessly and firmly stretched in embroidery frames made of beech wood and thus draw a further link to the life of the noble poetess, whose meaning in life - according to social statutes - should have consisted of little more than a demure corset of embroidery, crochet and drawing.

Object boxes »WordReich«
Annette's »WortReich«
Heller's object boxes contain supposedly meaningless, almost Dadaistic-looking short texts that were typed on an 80-year-old typewriter. They represent an experiment on the artists' ability to act in Annette's time, to show what can be put on paper with the limited selection of eight letters and two numbers from »But after 100 years«.
